Let me start off by saying I’m a lover of ALL things makeup! Anything you can think of I love it lipstick, highlighter, liquid eyeliner, bronzer, mascara whatever it may be I’m all for it. I spend far too much time and money in Sephora. However I have to be honest I have shied away from eyeshadow for quite some time. When I was younger I was very bold with my eyeshadow choices and they looked great but over time I just gave up….Until now. I decided to expand my horizons and give it one more go and I’m so glad I did. Which brings us to the Subculture Palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills. There has been so much controversy over this eyeshadow palette. Makeup artist, youtubers, blogger everyone was saying how much they hated it. From first glance to me it looked fabulous! So I didn’t know what the fuss was about and quite frankly I still don’t (no shade).
The colors in this palette are giving me life! It’s full of rich earth tones which by the way look amazing on women of color. It’s a fall palette but they are shades that can be worn anytime of year. I’m no beauty expert just a makeup addict and lover of bold colors so if I can pull this off so can you beauties! Here’s why you should give it a try:
1. Bold and Beautiful pigments: Like I said previously these colors are everything! The pigment in this palette is on point so you don’t have to over apply your eye shadow to get the desired shade. Yay for quality products!
2. Reasonable price point: Anastasia Beverly Hills is a reputable and well know brand so you know your getting your money’s worth and $42 isn’t bad for a palette of 14 shades. Not to mention when you apply your makeup it last all day! A lot of palettes have excessive kickback which is the excess powder that comes out when you go to dip your brush into the palette. This palette does have some kickback but not much which is always a plus. This means more makeup on your face and less everywhere else.
3. The range of colors are so versatile you can easily go from a day to a night look simply by changing your lipstick. It pairs well with Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plus Matte Lipstick in Midnight Wasabi which retails at $18 & Kat Von D Beauty’s Studded Kiss Creme Lipstick in A-Go-Go at $19. These are two of my favorite cosmetic lines and almost all of my lipstic are from one of the two. If you haven’t tried them out yet give them a shot! I highly recommend both lines.
The Look: Since it was opening weekend for Black Panther you know I had to put a look together and I used my Subculture palette to do it. I only used four colors from the palette to create the look. The shades I used were electric, new wave, edge and axis. There are so many other looks you can create and I’m super excited to try out a few more. But like the title says don’t believe the hype check it out for yourself. I’m pretty confident you won’t be disappointed.
